A tradition with more than a century

Tradition

More than 120 years have passed since the first edition of Festas do Povo (The People’s Festival).

The celebrations, as result of the setbacks of time and history, have gone through many changes, as well as the techniques and ways of working the paper…

However, the love, care and dedication that the women and the men of Campo Maior put in each flower, in each petal, have remained unchanged.

It is all this commitment, passed from parents to children, that is perpetuating this unique art of working the paper.

More than 120 years later, we may wonder which force is the one that drives thousands of people to work voluntarily, for about one year, to make Festas do Povo come to life.
